What interior and exterior paints and stains are the best? We have clients and prospective clients in Fort Worth ask us this exact question all the time. Since having been in this business for as long as we have, we do have an opinion on that so we thought we’d put up a short post about it.
Discover the Best Paints and Stains in Fort Worth for Residential and Commercial Properties
Protect and beautify your Fort Worth home or business with premium paints and stains engineered for North Texas weather. Our expert-recommended Texas heat-resistant paint colors help reflect sunlight, reduce heat absorption, minimize fading, and keep properties cooler while delivering stunning results.
Why Fort Worth Businesses and Homeowners Choose Us to assist with Paints and Stains
Fort Worth’s intense heat, UV exposure, humidity, and temperature swings demand smart color choices alongside high-performance paints. Lighter colors with higher Light Reflectance Value (LRV) reflect more solar energy, lowering surface temperatures and energy costs while extending paint life.
Key Benefits of Heat-Resistant Colors:
- Superior heat reflection and UV protection
- Reduced fading, peeling, and maintenance
- Energy efficiency for lower cooling bills
- Timeless appeal that enhances curb appeal in Texas neighborhoods
Top Texas Heat-Resistant Paint Colors for Fort Worth Exteriors
Our color experts recommend these high-LRV, fade-resistant shades that perform exceptionally well in Texas sun:
Light Neutrals & Whites (Highest Heat Reflection – LRV 70+)
- Sherwin-Williams Alabaster (SW 7008) or Pure White (SW 7005) — Bright, clean, and highly reflective. Perfect for maximum heat deflection and a fresh, timeless look.
- Benjamin Moore White Dove (OC-17) or Cloud White (OC-130) — Warm off-whites that reflect sunlight without appearing stark. Excellent for siding and trim in hot climates.
- Sherwin-Williams Swiss Coffee or similar creamy whites — Subtle warmth that hides dirt while staying cool.
Greiges & Light Beiges (Versatile & Practical – LRV 50-70)
- Sherwin-Williams Agreeable Gray (SW 7029) — A popular greige that balances warmth and modernity while reflecting heat effectively.
- Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Gray (HC-173) — Soft, adaptable neutral ideal for Texas homes. Hides minor imperfections and pairs beautifully with stone or brick.
- Accessible Beige or warm sand tones — Earthy neutrals that blend with Fort Worth landscapes and resist heat buildup.
Soft Accent Colors (Moderate Reflection with Character)
- Light sage greens, soft sky blues, or pale yellows — Refreshing options with good reflectivity for trim, doors, or accents.
Pro Tip: Pair these with premium lines like Sherwin-Williams Duration Exterior or Benjamin Moore Aura Exterior for maximum durability against Texas heat, hail, and UV rays. Darker colors absorb more heat and fade faster, so we generally recommend them sparingly on north-facing surfaces only.
Heat-Resistant Solutions for Commercial Properties
For offices, retail, restaurants, and multi-family buildings:
- Use high-LRV neutrals for broad walls to keep interiors cooler and reduce HVAC strain.
- Custom color matching for branding that still prioritizes performance (e.g., light reflective versions of your logo colors).
- Sherwin-Williams ProMar or Duration lines in reflective finishes for high-traffic areas.

If you’ve perused our website you’ll notice that we tend to lean toward Sherwin Williams paints and stains. That’s not to say that there aren’t other brands that aren’t equal or even better than Sherwin Williams. We primarily use them because they have great product with great warranties and they have storefronts literally everywhere and we always have a sales rep at our disposal should an issue arise with one of their products.
Another brand we use is Benjamin Moore albeit not as often as Sherwin Williams.
When we outline our estimates we’ll always recommend a product based on the surfaces. A lot of what we recommend and the manufacturer we recommend depends on the surfaces we’re going to work on and the prep work involved. For residential properties and commercial properties a lot of the same paints and stains will work. While we could go through a list of each individual surface that would make this post 3 miles long and with more links than you could possibly click on. We will note however that we generally stay away from anything sold at the big box stores, for example behr and glidden. Not that those are horrible paints and stains we just don’t feel as though the quality is there given the warranty we provide after service.
Our final thought would be this, because these two manufacturers are readily available here in North Texas we would stick with these two brands. While they each offer competing products varying from interior to exterior they are both extremely reputable brands that stand behind their paints and stains. The added bonus with these two companies is that they both have sales people at their stores that can answer just about any questions you may have.
We always have someone monitoring our blog so if you have a questions about a surface you’re going to paint then feel free to leave a comment on this post or you can call or use our contact page. We’d be happy to offer free advice to anyone. As usual thank you for visiting our home on the web good luck with your project.
To give you an idea of how different manufacturers work, in the photos below we installed all new cabinets, ceilings, paint. The homeowner liked the white from Sherwin Williams because it was “extra white” on the ceiling and cabinets and the gray walls were painted with Benjamin Moore.

Obviously not the best photos below but you can see the difference in the white between cabinet doors. The one on the left is a Sherwin Williams pro classic oil and the one on the right is a Sherwin Williams pro classic latex. Both very good interior trim paints and hold up very well to wear and tear and very easy to clean.

In closing, whether it’s an interior or exterior painting project you really can’t go wrong with either Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore.
